About Me

I'm a sixteen-year-old fan of Style Rookie, doctor's office tabloids and watercolour sets. I like famous people and not doing my homework.

August 31: Lara Stone

Today's caricature is of Dutch supermodel Lara, who's walked the runways for Prada, Balmain, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Miu Miu, Fendi, Anna Sui, Ungaro (ew), Victoria's Secret (double ew), Zac Posen, Max Mara and pretty much ever other label you can't afford. She's been on the cover of French, Italian, British, Japanese and American Vogue; done campaigns for Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gaultier, DKNY jeans, Hugo Boss and many other brands. To put it simply, Lara Stone is Kate Mos 2.0. Do I need to point out the tousled white-blond hair, trademark gap-toothed pout, the insolent sulk, the inhumane cheekbones? Or maybe her stint in alcoholism rehab...

If you want to draw Lara, I'd suggest remembering that her upper eyelids and upper lashes are usually invisible because of her heavy brow bone. Her white blond eyebrows are hardly visibly, but you can make them visible by shading her tanned skinned darker around the brows. Her prominent cheekbones lead down to a pretty bold jawline, accented by her thick lips, which are usually lazily parted to reveal her gap teeth. Her nose is angled down, which makes her nostrils hardly visible; instead, stress the bridge of her nose. Finally, add some cool fashion (I drew a Balmain-inspired 1980s jacket with strong shoulders.)
